Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, have been joyfully living their zany lives in New York City for many years. This eccentric family is a wacky bunch of free spirits, marching to the beat of their own drum (or xylophone). But when practical young Alice Sycamore becomes engaged to her company’s Vice President Tony Kirby, the crazy clan must straighten up to meet their high society in-laws. Disaster ensues when the Kirbys arrive a night earlier than expected, seeing Alice’s family in all of its crazy glory. This madcap, idealistic comedy discovers the most important thing in life is the only thing you can take with you; each other.
